Congratulations on cleaning the blue. There is a product named blue away that works well. However, once the blueing has been established...........usually due to a lean condition..........it will always come back.

there is another coolproduct called blue job and greg is right it will always come back the big reason it discolors in the first place is due to leanness but also because the aftermarket pipes are single wall unlike most of the stockers which are double wall or really heavy gauge pipe.

Question...

In my case, I'm fairly confident I'm not running lean based on plug insulator coloration and condition.

Here's the question that just hit me in reviewing this posting.... In upgrading motor pistons to 10.25:1 I would assume this generates a significant amount of more heat as well...

Correct way of thinking?

Asd for the thin wall... Unfortunately, these new thin walled pipes do blue... Even with the coating I applied, still getting but not as bad as some I've seen....

I guess internal Ceramic dip/coating would have been the way to go... Oh well, next time....

Until then, let us know what you come up with in a product that seems to work in removing the bluing...

i think it looks cool as hell and if you are hualing ass all the time with a chrome kerker...like 100 or 120 once or twice a day...it is gonna turn blue---and red----and swirly colors ....my old kerker was shiny but the head pipes looked like it just got back from a grateful dead concert after a while....

One of my favorite things about my bike is that the pipes turned all colors of blue/purple etc..

Agree w/J. Heat is the culpret, have seen bluing from both lean conditions and runnung w/ prolonged choke/enricherer. was chatting w/a English restorer after replacing pipes on my "71 Trumpet". He feels that current fuels burn hotter than era "leaded's" and that bluing of single walled pipes is pretty much inevitible. I EGA'd bike w/old pipes to @ 3% co w @ 500 ppm Hc before installing new w/ ceramic spray inside headers. I'm blue for @ 2 inches, and growing w/ extended stopped running. luck G
