Looking at picking up a KZ. I'm not that familiar with them yet.

I'm looking at a '78 or '79 KZ 1000s OR a '81 KZ 1100.

Is one motor more reliable than the other? Any known issues with either.

Any areas of either motor that need more maintenance?

My apologies for the noob question.

I have the later j model engine myself and have had good luck with it. Anything different than what I have is poo :P :woohoo: . From what Ive read you cant go wrong with any KZ. But 1100 sounds better than 1000 to me.

Here...this is easier. web.ics.purdue.edu/~ssanty/cgi-bin/eightball.cgi What others likes should really mean nothing when dealing with classic bikes. Use your eyes, ears and 6th sense. Then pray to whatever gods you subscribe to that she'll be a great bike. Buy it and get to work. ;)

I like the 80 and older 1000's and 900's. Something about the newer ones that don't do it for me. The motors are great but the styling is a little different but enough to turn me off.
