went down to the garage to repair 2 exhaust studs today,
had to buy the big-serts as the 2 failed studs had been repaired before back in the 90's anyway to the point.

started drilling out the hole and half the side popped off the head!
leaving less than a 1/4 inch of meat left sigh,

option 1 pull motor get it welded,

option 2 jb weld the thing up,

option 3 buy a "j" head and swap it out, :S

being a carpenter not a mechanic option 2 seems right up my street but is it worth mucking around.

i know you guys will know the best route to fixing this latest hurdle in getting my kz1000r finished so give me the benefit of you experience plz guys.

i just went through it myself and others may disagree but just pull the motor..it takes an hour...i stuck mine inthe front seat of my work civic and got it back in 24 hrs-called around first-100 bucks for the guy and 1 hr to put back in....it is the only way...no epoxy will hold and inserts suck on the little bit of area on an exh thread...so get it welded and be riding again.....i spent 40 on taps and thread sert type stuff and studs and nuts and 15 on epoxies and it all sucked hard....welding is shwing sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet....your call kano ...good luck

thx bro i prefer the honest answer and i kinda expected welding was the way to go,
still we both have sets of time-serts now and some jb weld in case we ever need them lol.
ok ill call around, i just had my swing arm welded too by some guy off island, he did a nice job and was cheap too.

thx again.

Sorry for the bad news kano but welding is the only to go. JB weld will just pull out. When my bike was wrecked a stud broke lose and welding was the only thing that worked.
