Engine Holes was created by ironpan65
I have a 73 Z1 900 engine that has two holes that have been drilled and capped or plugged on the Lower Front engine case below the barrels...approx half inch in diameter
Can anyone tell me what or why this was done? :unsure:

I have never seen that before :S,But they did a good job :laugh:
1974 Z1 with a MKII And a 1105 big bore kit 10.5 to 1 comp. Andrews 2x cams ported head dyna s with green coils V&H sidewinder pipe airshifter 4in.over arm

On most bikes with oil coolers, the lines start on the back side of the engine with both pressure and return lines starting and ending around the oil pressure switch housing.

I suppose it's possible to drill and tap for lines on the front of the engine but you'd need to know where in the oil gallery to drill and thread.

it couldn't be for an oil cooler there would be no pressure there it just goes into the cases . i'm stumped i can't for the life of me figure why they would have done that

Ironpan, Sorry still clueless. even if there was an oil gallery there, there would be no presure difference for a cooler. mounting anything directly behind exhaust would be self defeating. still, clean work G

Could there have been a Turbo application to dump oil back into the case....??
It has been suggested to me to replug so that it is flush with case :ohmy:
