clutch questions was created by Davestradamus
i have just put the first 100 miles on my 1977 kz650b after a long time off the road. after letting the motor cool, when starting with the clutch lever squeezed the bike moved forward. i released the clutch lever and squeezed it again. i put the bike in neutral and started it. i drove home with little problem (aside from a small intermittent miss that concerns me a bit). The same problem returned when i arrived home.

possible problems:
clutch cable too loose/tight?
warn clutch plate?
need oil change?
gas in crank case?

any help would be great!

thanks!
david

If you haven't done so over the past year, I would definitely change the oil & filter and lube & adjust the clutch cable. Ed

I think most bikes with a wet clutch do this to some degree. Put it in neutral before you start it, don't leave it in gear and pull in the clutch.

ditto....would not hurt to follow the manual and start at the motors clutch adjuster then cable then bar nut.....but nuetral is the way to go....good luck...oil changes are cool anyway...bountyhunter wrote:
