I borrowed a flywheel puller from the motorcycle shop down the road. I threaded it on and used excessive force but still stuck on the crankshaft. I dont have an impact wrench and the crankshaft is "out of the engine" (top case half is off). i read in an earlier post about a ballbearing between the crankshaft and the puller.....is that the key?? a ton of friction right now with flat end of puller against flat end of crankshaft.. do i NEED a ball bearing....???? the store is closed for the night.

Once you get the puller tight ,hit the bolt head flush with a hammer. Be ready to catch it , it will JUMP right off.

The puller that I have looks just like a bolt, I don't see how hitting it with a hammer is going to push the flywheel off the crankshaft because it's threaded to the flywheel but I'll try. Thanks.

The puller "bolt" threads into the flywheel and pushes on the crankshaft. I believe he means when it lets loose the flywheel with threaded bolt will pop off and try to hit the floor if not restrained.
