Anybody have tips on how to remove cylinder? was created by Pro_window78
Hey Guy's I have a 78 kz1000, but I'm not working on that today. I just bought a 77 gs750 4 cyl sazook for my wife. it was seized so I tore it down to the jugs, but I can't seem to get them tore off. It has one reaaallly rusted piston. I was wondering if anyone has had some experience with this, This is my first engine tear down and everything looks pristine except the one cylinder. Thanks for any help!

Would apply PB Blaster or Kroil several times daily for a week if necessary to allow continuous wet soaking in hopes the rings/piston may be freed with minimal pounding on the piston. Want to avoid damaging rods. Best imo to have the piston moving inside the bore prior to attempting to separate the jugs from the cases.
Others will recommend auto transmission fluid, Marvel Mystery Oil, etc., and I seem to recall Yamaha having a specialty product for this particular application.
Will likely require an overbore and next size pistons/rings to re-use the same jugs, depending on extent of damage to the one seized bore.
Btw, any idea about how many miles are on the GS750?
Good Luck!

I guess you'll need to oil down that cylinder and try again.

Kroil is the best penetrating oil I know of.

take a short piece of a 2x2 board stick one end on top of center of stuck piston and start banging with a hammer,if its stuck that bad youre probably gonna need pistons anyway

You could have done it like they used to do the old flathead Fords. Just take all of the head nuts off and start the engine.
