Any recommendations? Also, I plan on powdercoating the engine cases. Is that a bad idea?

if they do it right you can powdercoat no problem but if they don't it can be an absolute nightmare i wouldn't myself i have seen all kindas of problems bolt holes filled with powder oil passages plugged gasket surfaces covered all kinds of good stuff like that i'd probably just stick to paint myself. as for your other question, what the hell man

Have you considered a good epoxy paint on the cases?

Powder coat is a bad idea for engines. The coating is quite thick and will hold in too much heat. Use KG GunKote, or Polane. GunKote is very tin film and Polane you can regulate the thickness.

What about just leaving the cases bare after blasting? A nice rough finish on the outside of the cases should help to dissipate heat. But, are they susceptible to corrosion?
