After all this the bike pulled real well up to (I can't remember exactly) about 5000? but then would not go any faster. About 70 MPH is all she would do.
My questions are: What are the symptoms of a burned valve? The bike starts first hit on the starter and runs very smoothly. It just won't go to red line under load or even near it.
IMHO, those are the symptoms of a lean running condition from main jets. You might try a stock airbox as it will probably run better.
A lean condition can burn things in the engine, but I don't know if you burned a valve. I think you would have low compression on a cylinder if the valve was burned.
