Thanks guys, I guess what I'm really asking is: Can I cruise for extended periods at 80-90mph if that puts me at 6000-6500rpm?

once the engine is up to desired speed you are basically just maintaining which is much less of a load on the engine depending on if your traveling hills or flat roads,6500 seems a little high to me once you reach cruising speed you should be able to back off just a little B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

14 41 gearing is what i use on my little drag bike it is good for around 125 mph top speed but if you run that gearing on the street it will be very buzzy and not super comfortable to ride i prefer 15 33 or 35 on the street my self.

Is there a good place to get "smaller than stock" rear gears for these KZ bikes? The only one I foundwas sprocket specialists and all theirs are aluminum and very pricey.

SO- I finally got the engine sprocket nut off (after breaking a 3/4" drive extension) and brought the gear ratio back to stock (15T front, 33T rear). I was AMAZED at the difference in the ride. It's now the all-around bike I wanted, freeways should be NO problem, and the city is as fun as ever. I hit 50 mph in 2nd gear the first time around the block! Thanks again for all the input, and a big thumbs up to GearingCommander.com, TONS of info.
PEACE
Keep the rubber side on the road.

bountyhunter try jt sprockets or pbi sprockets or there is a new outfit called rebel gears give anyone of them a try,jt sprockets are cool if your running oddball rear wheels because they have a chart that will give rear sprocket dimensions.

I'll check them again, but I have never found a place that stocks "standard item" steel rear sprocket sizes that are smaller than stock, only larger. You have to get a custom size and they cost about $80 + shipping.
