KZ1100 Exhaust Options was created by banggugyangu
I just purchased a 1981 KZ1100. I'm curious as to what exhaust options there are available. This is also my first bike, so if there's any custom approaches that I could take, I would appreciate any information anyone would have.

i like this one.

kerkers run for $495.00

then i saw this 4-2 ZeCross Chrome Exhaust System - Pipes 1 and 4 go out on the left side and pipes 2 and 3 go out the right side.
Dual mufflers are similar to Kerker mufflers in looks. Easy access to oil filter,
$871.99

Unique and stylish 4-2 exhaust

In all honesty, budget doesn't really matter. If I don't have enough, I'mma save up and get what looks/sounds/performs best. A friend of mine mentioned that 4-2 systems can cause problems because of slight differences in back pressure if the mufflers are slightly off. I really like the looks of that 4-2 system though. Also, I'm wanting a chrome set.

Any idea of the sound those would give?

Thanx for the replies btw.

Nothing to compare against? What I'm hoping for is a sound similar to HDs. I know this engine can produce it if the sound is just shaped into it.

What are some good places to buy parts? *I'm really excited to start working on this*

If you are looking for a sound similiar to a HD, its simple. Keep RPM's below 5k, header with no baffle, and make sure the mottor is flooded pretty good. That should give you a deeper sound like a HD, and hence the flooding it will wind up nice and slow too

Dont forget to pull off 1 plug wire and lowering the idle down to about 400RPM so that you have to keep blipping the throttle at stop lights to keep it from dieing - then it will sound like a Hardley.

That is going to be tough to do. I don't think any available exhaust is going to make an inline 4 sound like a 45 degree 2 cylinder. You will probably be closer with the 1 and 4, 2 and 3 going down opposite sides.

I like that you are excited, and welcome aboard, but you will be disappointed if you are looking for a harley sound out if your 1100. Realize what you have is different and unique and enjoy it for what it is. If you want harley sound, you will probably have to buy a harley.

kz650 with Kerker:

KZ750 with V&H:

KZ1000 with RC:
