SO anybody know how close the motor mounts are between a 750 twin and 4 cylinder. You probably assume i want to drop a 4 into a twin frame, but...... i have acquired a already hardtailed 750 four frame, and can get a 750 twin motor, and was wondering how easy bolting it in will be. If welding/fabbing is necessary then so be it.

the twin engine is taller than the 4, might not fit under the tank, the mounts would have to be relocated for sure, I have both bikes, 79 twin and 78 and 84 4 cyl, and I think it would be easier to swap 4 cyl into twin frame, I also think a 650/750 4cyl would not be hard to get,I have several spares,

if you measure the twin i think you will find it is quite a bit taller than the 4 bangerso i think space for doing anything with the topend might be a problem and phisically it might not even fit this is all a guess but it could be true. maybe kind of makes sense to me. jordan somrtimes you get some ideas don't you that's why we like you always thinking.

jordan why don't you grab the motor and then look for an old flat tracker frame from some thing like an xs 650 motor and build your self a light fast nasty street tracker type unit. just a thought.

haha, thanks! The frame i have acquired is actually a little taller and only has one frame tube going up to the neck. I will post pics this weekend when i am home again. The frame is interesting that is for sure, may not even be straight. It might not even be safe to use. The previous owner crashed the 750 while racing his buddy, and he ended up in the hospital for 9 weeks. His buddy felt bad so started making him a chopper while he was in the hospital. Now he is out, and didnt want to see the bike ever again. And thats where i come in! I have access to a free twin motor that may need a topend rebuild as it burned a little oil when it was running. I would like to try to make it work. Stay tuned, for what might possibly be the cheapest kz build ever!!!

I have actually thought about this a time or two, especially since i worked with a guy who has a 1970 xs650 that he would practically give away. I would prefer a flat-tracker, especially since a chopper serves almost no purpose(no offense to anybody) For now with the kz1000 project, then the triple, projects that will cost money are kinda out of the question. Hopefully i can build this chopper for next to nothing and make a few bucks off of it like my other kz chopper.

I am sitting on KZR, while i have a calculus test tomorrow, a 9 page paper due by friday, and finals week approaching FAST!!! With that said i should probably get my ass to the books. Thanks again for all the help/guidance!
