Quick Valve Question
05 Mar 2006 17:13
Hi folks. Its been a while
I just ordered the clymers manual for my 1983 KZ650H CSR and I'm wondering what tools/supplies I need to check and set the valve clearance?
Do any of you have anything to add to the procedure outlined in the clymers manual?
I did a search, but if this question has already been answered, just give me a link.
P.S.
I need this info asap so I can go riding this weekend!
Thanks
Peter

This might sound stupid, but what kind of wedge?
Is it something I can easily make out of wood or something or something I should think about buying?

650 and 750 motors are shim under bucket, so the wedge thing won't work

the 650 is a under bucket shim, you have to remove the cams to change them, also take good notes on the size of the feeler gauge ( good to use the metric side ) if you can still read the number on the shim then you have to do some math to figure out the size of shim needed, if mo marks are left, get a micrometer and measure.
I would wait until you get the book before you start

yep im used to 900s-1000s you have to pull cams and buckets to change shims .but you can still check the wit h feeler gauge without pulling cams.thanks guys!
