yeah after another conversation with the guy who made the cam i will be staying with the shim on top.
he described the cam as full race in a 650 as it was designed as a fast road/race cam for the 1100, but that dont mean anything in my book.
i'll get it in and set up, see if i need to clerance anything. any idea on what springs i'm going to need?
cheers rob

That raises a question. If you can put a shim-under setup from a 650 into a 900, can you put a shim-over setup from a 900 into a 650?

Anyone done this just for easier shim maintenance?

Don't mean to highjack this thread... just curious.

Maybe, but why would you want to add 25%-30% more weight, to your valve train?

Definitely not a peformance improvement, but some just use a bike for basic transportation. I could see it making routine maintenance a lot easier, plus no chance of stripping cam bearing caps.

.375 lift doesn't need shim on bottom.

You can run 900 sot setuo in a 650

The springs you need are #VS900K kzzone.com/cams.html
