Exhaust Fitment was created by wrangler615
hey guys! I am looking to replace the exhaust on my 83 Kz750. I found on ebay for an 84 kz550, do any of you guys know if the pipe spacing is the same on each head? looking at the pictures in the auction, the bike itself looks virtually identical save for the smaller displacement engine. take a look here: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KAWASAKI-1984-KZ...C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

any advice at all would be greatly appreciated

Justin

ya the 550 exhaust will not work, an exhaust off of any year kz 650 will mork, with the exception of the muffler mouting, you will need to fab up something there.

Do you guys think this would fit? I'm sure I would have to fab a rear mount, but as long as it clears the frame its ok with me. Supposedly of of an 89 ZX6, I think it will fit the head ok.

How about this one? From a 78 KZ650B, length and stuff looks okay. May have to fab a mounting bracket, but no biggie.

That exhaust sytem has the flared header tips. If you currently have a stock exhaust system with the flanges welded to the headers, you're going to need the half-moon split keepers from a 70s KZ650.

Opinions on this one? Seems as though it is off of an earlier KZ650, but the measurements on the pipes that he gives are almost a perfect match to my 750. I did notice that the head flanges look to be different from the factory exhaust that was on the bike. Does anyone have any thoughts if I can make this work, maybe with shims between the collar bolting it to the head and the flange? The exhaust on the bike currently has the split keepers, but still has a thick flange at the head(about 1/2 inch). Should I double stack the keepers? Maybe make my own? The price on this right now is unbeatable, I'm sure it will go up though. With a little clean up this could be a nice exhaust.

So, I picked up this rusty old Kerker pipe for my bike.:) It really is a Kerker, you can still barely make out the sticker and read it in the stamping of the hanger. I'm gonna sand it down and paint it flat black with header paint. I wondered if ay of you guys know where I could get a new decal for the muffler? I don't care if it is a stick on or a rivet, as long as it can handle the heat. I haven't even been able to find a website for Kerker to check, just a bunch of suppliers. Any help on that would be great to!
