Ok...I just did a custom handle bar build today...and I cut my cables to the length that i needed them on the clutch, right on the perch handle...I figured i would use a cable stop from autozone, drill out the hole, and then install the cable. Well that worked, but now...it keeps sliding out, reguardless of how much I screw the cable down in the stop...So what Do I do....

Can you double the end of the cable and then possibly tighten it down? This is an old trick used in electrical crimp on terminals if they come off the wire after crimping.

double the end of the cable..how...it is in side of the perch handle...The other way I can double it is too insert a screw on the other side...but i would have to cut it off...i might be able to use some solder....The is a brass cable stop..the screw...is probably aluminum or something..Solder will stick to steel wont it...or what else could i do?

Another thought, most hobby shops and some hardware stores sell the K&S brand of metal tubing and sheets. They come in many diameter and are very inexpensive; buy some brass tubing to fit the cable, cut to fit your needs and have the tubing act like a shim to tighten down on the cable.

If that won't work maybe some custom cables will have to be made. www.motionpro.com is one place and www.barnett.com is another.

Here's another website for cables:

the cable ends are usally drilled thru then the cable is fed thru the hole and flattened out and then it is soldered over. and the excess is ground or filed off.
