I was experiencing hard shifting when the engine was warmed up on a 1981 GPz550. Very hard to shift gears and hard to find neutral. Everything was ok when engine was cool. General consensus here was to replace the clutch with stock Kawasaki parts. Just replaced clutch fibers, steels and springs with OEM parts and transmission shifts great hot or cold now. When I measured the old parts, there was very little wear, but replaced it all anyway. The clutch had been carefully adjusted prior to this. Just wanted to provide this feedback in case some others here are experiencing the same problems. Thanks!
