Cometic one peace head gasket was created by kaw74z1
Hi guys, I'm putting my engine back together (kz1000 MKII bored to a 1105) My questions are I'm using a 1 peace cometic fiber head gasket and when I lay it on the block the 4 little hard black things that sit atop the cam chain rollers keep it from laying flush on the block. Do I file these down? also am I correct not to use the O ring? If so what is a good gasket sealer to use. Thanks in advance

do not shave the rubbers down the gasket and cylinder head will compress them down into place they are there to hold the idler in place so it cant walk around.for the o-ring groove use a good quaility rtv silicone and bring it up flush with the top of the reciever groove. the head gasket must be put on dry all motorcycle gaskets must be installed dry unless specified otherwise.

I use the Right Stuff in the grooves instead of the rubber pieces with the 1 piece Cometic gasket. My block is also O-ringed. Been that way for the last 8 years with no problems
