jtmcculloch: Did you get those new pipes on yet ? Did you gain ground clearance ? how much ?
Those pipes you bought, they are not the cross over type I am thinking of, but they have a equalizer tube. Yours have exhaust pipe 1 and 2 collect, 3 and 4 collect. The cross over I am thinking of has 1 and 4 collect, 2 and 3 collect, and has no equalizer tube.
BTW Jtmcculloch, your bike is beautiful ! I bet it'll be nicer with those pipes.

I have a 78 Kz1000ltd. Does anyone know if the 4 into 2 exhaust system on the standard 'A' model will fit on the ltd model? Thanks Kirby

I have this exact stock megaphone exhaust system for my 650 CSR, I have circled points near the crossover where each half of the header collects together, I am worried of this spot as it looks like a REAL bottleneck, not to mention the pipe leading off from it towards the megaphones (including crossover) is very small diameter pipe, I'm wondering if this is such a good stock exhaust to be running?

dan76kz900, if you are talking about the Jardine type system where #1 crosses over and goes out the right side with #4 and #3 goes out to the left side with #2 like I have on my 650 it helps with the scavenging of the exhaust because the pulses alternate from side to side. The power pulses on the 4 cylinders go 1,3,4,2.
I know someone is going to bring up that the ignition timing cycle is 1,4,2,3, but that has nothing to do with the power firing order.
With this system the exhaust pulses go left right left right. where as on a stock system the pulses go left right right left.

milkman: Yes ! I dont know if its a Jardine system or not. Now I know the diffrence.. So with improved scavenging, I should gain or free up some power ?
Where can I buy this exhaust system ?

Ok, no free rides, you need to explain that one

Power pulses have to match the firing order, can't have a power pulse until there has been a spark event and the mixture ignites

The 650/750 firing order is 1-2-4-3 and I assume the 1000 is the same, 180 degrees of crankshaft rotation between each power pulse, 720 degrees (two rotations of the crank) till all cylinders have fired.
So the power pulses are actually going to be 1-2-4-3.

Probably, 1100 is the same. The 650/750 firing order is 1-2-4-3 and I assume the 1000 is the same
