I am seriously considering adding nitrous to my KZ since the turbos are so expensive. Can nitrous truly be added to any engine as I have been told? What modifications are truly necessary? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The engine is definitely pretty beefed up, but I don't have an o-ringed block.

Is a fuel pump necessary like the turbos require? A heater for the bottle?

where are you gonna run it strip/street?
how big a shot?
progressive or WOT only
are a few questions you need to answer.
some answers,
yes you will need a fuel pump
you should atleast weld the crank and run a lock up clutch
no you dont "need" a heater
should have a way to pull timing out of the motor as you spray
heavy duty studs really good Idea
just my .02

you get a fuel pump with the kit when you buy it.if your racing get a bottle heater but if just giving it a squirt on the street every now and then i wouldn't waste my money all the blanket does is keep the bottle pressure more consistent.

OK - good information. The kit I was looking at included a "progressive controller" but I'm not sure if I'd shoot it except at WOT. The controller is for the nos and not the ignition, right?

My crank is welded, ape studs/nuts, 1260 kit, o/s ss valves, ported head, crank support, windage tray, etc... but just removed and sold lock up  Frame is braced as well and everything is pretty much set up for the HP.

It would be street mostly with an occasional night at the drag strip. I have an MSD mc-1 ignition but I don't think the timing is adjustable.

So the higher compression is OK? Not like a turbo where low comp is required? I have the 10.5 to 1 MTC pistons in there now.

Thanks!

nitrous motors love compression and super good fuel so if your gonna play be prepared for the odd jug of race gas

The only problem with nitrous is that it is so cheap to keep adding power. If you can reasist tghat and just run the jets that come with the kit, you will be fine.

If all goes right i will be running nitrous on my 1000 when its done, and after i get it good and rideable. I was thinkin 50 shot max for the strip. A member on here drags a zx-12 that helped me out quite a bit when i was looking for nitrous information. Good Luck

Hay Jay;
How adjustable is the horsepower you want to add? Say I only want to add 20 Hp to a motor that already has 135, for the street? Is welding the crank a must? At what Hp do I have to weld the crank on a "J" motor. Mine is an 1135 11:1 with "Your" K410 cams and a very well flowed 84GPz head, GS1150 BS36 stage 2 carbs. I would want to totally hide the bottle. what are the bottle dimensions?
