Bought a 1980 550a...im not too hip on the emmissions stuff...im old school...lol...had a z1r\tc tho ...was wondering if i can get rid of that stuff..and just rejet the carbs and plug the head...also...im hip on brits and we do the Boyer ign....anyone had a elec. ig?...that works?...the boyer is...lets just say...crap

You can just remove all hoses and air valve. Be sure to plug off open vacuum ports. Then run a hose from plate to plate on front valve cover. No re-jetting required on smog removal.

Also, the best electronic ignition, in my opinion would be a stock electronic ignition from later KZ550A, C, D, or H models. They bolt in, but to get the full benefit you'll want the elec. ign. coils too, or new 3-ohm coils. You could also get a Dyna S ignition, but for that you can use the stock points coils, but if they are originals they are getting old so new 3 ohm coils would work well there too.
