piston to cylinder clearance was created by Foose
hey everyone....

ive got a kawasaki kd 100 dirt bike that i recently blew up. i know its not a kz, but i was hoping someone out there could tell me the clearance between the piston and cylinder, because im going to have to bore the cylinder, and i have no idea what clearance im shooting for. so far ive got .032 to .042 mil out of a KE manual, but that seems really tight to me, and the ke's are far newer than the kd or km models. granted, its a small displacement, so it doesnt require much clearance, but that equates to .0016" clearance on the diameter on the high end. 8 ten-thousandths of an inch per wall seems really tight to me, but again i guess i have no real idea. if anyone out there happens to have a manual for a kd100, or a km 100 (same thing) and can get me these numbers, id be eternally greatful!

thanks again for you help,

if it is cast you can go with the .0016 to .002 thousandths range.if it is forged go .002 to .0025 thousandths and you will be fine.
