KZ750 freeze up while riding was created by row107
Hey fellas,
I bought a 77 kz750b1 twin from a guy who claims that it froze while he was riding. My first thought was that he ran it out of oil but he said no. Its been sitting for a few months. I used the penetrating oil trick but no go. Im pretty sure that I have to take the engine apart. Any suggestions? I tried taking the top end off but it seems that the two sections adheized together. I tried prying, pulling, everything no go.Thanks, row107

I think the most likely culprit in a sieze would be either a main bearing cooked or a piston siezed in the cylinder. I think a starter clutch can do it if it fails just wrong.
The head should come off the cylinder pretty easily, but getting the cylinder loose from the crankcase can be a royal pain even in a good engine. There are pry points but it is still hard to separate. They used a very strong sealer on mine and it was murder to pull free.

I got the head off but the section that covers the crank will not budge. Where can I find a service manual either on cd or hard copy.

Try at
www.repairmanual.com
it might be a few $ but has all the factory specs in it. Another place to look is
www.onlinefreebooks.net

sure does sound like a piston siezed in the cly, if you are looking down the bore is there any visable scratches or scoring?
