ball bearing.....where does it go? was created by pburnhamb
I have the engine out. head and jug off. pistons off. all side covers off. I took the 13 bolts on the top of the case off and tilted it up on its end, took all the oil pan bolts out,...started to take the oil filter/housing off and a ball bearing rolled from somewere onto the ground.
at first i though it rolled out of the filter housing, but only because that is that i was working on at the time. I dont know where it came from and i have changed the filter with the engine in the frame and have never seen it before.
i thought it might belong to the oil pressure relief valve, but i can see the ball in there.
It scares me.
anyone have any suggestions as to where its home might be?

I'd ask Jeff Saunders at
www.z1entrprises.com
. On the bigger 1000's and 1100's a bearing was inside the cluch pusher assembly. Not sure about the smaller engines.

I bet it's from the clutch push rod too. Is the clutch removed? There's a ball bearing between the sort of mushroomed shaped thing that operates the clutch and the long rod the clutch cable moves if that makes sence.
