Joy!

I have saved enough pennies to buy a header but I wanted to see if anyone has suggestions on where to get a good deal on one. My bike is stock other than a dyna ignition and green coils. Also, had a question regarding the Kerker. I'm looking at both the V&H at Johnny's vintage for 300 clams or the black Kerker at JC Motors for 450 clams.

The V&H has a separate part # for the LTD which makes sense. The Kerker has the same p/n, 127-61001 for kz900's and LTD which doesn't sound right. Am I missing something? I checked the Supertrapp site as well. Same part number.

So...anyone know where I can get a killer deal on a new Kerker? The V&H seems fair in price. I'm sure your feeling me! You have any preference as far as which is the better pipe? Thoughts? I like the Kerker but I'm but one monkey in the jungle.

Thanks!

I have a vance and hines on my kz 650 with the fiberglass wrapping out of the baffle and it sounds good. I also have a NOS kerker on my 75 honda cb 750, and that just has a better sound in my opinion that is. I know the quality of V&H went down hill, with fittment isues and such, but kerker's have always been good. On that note im putting a V&H sidewinder race pipe on my z1, but it looks and fits good so i think i will be ok.

The Kerkers are nice but it's hard to justify that much more money when compared to the Kerker. At least the black Kerker is a little bit more reasonable.

The Kerker has the same part number because it uses a bracket to mount the megaphone that will work for both models. Your rear peg will be moved up slightly on that side and the mounting bolt will go where the foot peg was. You'll see what I mean in the directions.

The V&H megaphone bolts directly to the frame on both models, so the megaphones are slightly different for the LTD vs the A model.

The V&H chrome pipes were as low as $249 less than a year ago but have gone way up very quickly. Still, they are around $350 compared to about $600 for the chrome kerker.

I've only owned one MAC header, but I had great luck with it on my 650 and they are dirt cheap comparatively. Those 3 are probably the only new headers you can get anymore unless you shop overseas. $$$

Post some pictures when you get it on!

Just my opinion, The kerker has slightly tighter side clearance and tucks around oil filter so's you don't have to remove exhaust to change filter (as some do) Chrome looks great for a while, but will eventually rust and blue, I much prefer being able to touch -up a black system (regardless of brand) G
