Any idea how much for a set of sleeves and having them installed?

I'm seriously thinking about buying both the motor and the parts, my wife will have my ass!!
then again what she does not know won't hurt her!!

Obviously with out knowing the internals, so for conversation sake, lets say good with no grounded gears and such...

Ok, have you priced a shift fork lately....? I had and they're not cheap, like $90 a piece.... How about a shift drum, I have, $100.... How about a starter motor, oh wait that's $120, how about the cc sprocket, better than yours, what about the clutch basket, yours good or have broken hub fingers, Oh wait, are the side covers better than yours (buffed, scratch free etc...) $100 a piece plus and then there's the head.... $$$$

See where this is going?

Grab it, hell of a deal just for parts alone at $600...
Between the two motors you should be able to put together a strong runner.... ;)

As for the wife, hell, they already own our asses so put on your big girl princess panties and buy the damn thing already.....

As my buddy say's, they're pissed off 90% of the time anyways so give them something to really be pissed about....

BTW, have you seen my project and you wonder why I sleep on a cot in the garage.... Next to my true love of 30 years, my beloved KZ.....

She won't even notice and if she does I'll just bring up those $2000 earrings I bought her for Christmas (that I only paid $500 for) and that usually zips her up!

See, it's the same up in Canada and since I've lived in Europe, I know it's the same over there as well....

I bought a 76 kz900 complete engine on e-bay a couple of years ago for $350. The guy had it listed wrong and I stumbled upon it. And what made it sweeter was it was 20 miles from the house. The story was he worked at the hospital and bought the bike from a nurse whose husband bought a Harley and parked the kaw with 12000 miles on it. Then he got killed on the Harley, so she sold the kaw to the guy I bought it from. When I arrived to pick up the motor and looked it over real well, the valve cover had never been removed and it was bone stock. What made me feel the best was he was a Beemer rider and had no idea what he was selling, which explained why it was listed wrong. I timed it and replaced the plugs and have had no problems at all. Riding to Daytona Bike Week Saturday as a matter of fact. That was the best deal I have had from e-bay to date. B)

OK back to the discussion, visually speaking how can I tell that it is a MKII motor?

well I went and picked up the motor today ran the numbers and it comes back as a '80 KZ1000-A4 MKII
the numbers are KZT00AE105547 I don't think the cam cover has ever been off of this thing, the guy had about 8 bikes from a Z1R turbo to kz1000s to GPZ turbos and a zx14 you name it and he had it, i ended up getting it for $500 and it has everything on it but the carbs, He fulled it overfull with oil before he stored it and put plugs in all the open holes, I turned it over by hand and it had good compression. He said to drain the oil and put new plugs in it and run it, and I believe that's what I'll do!!
