Does anybody has experience with soda blasting?
I need to clean my engine cases and was wondering if that would work.

little closer up showing how the cases look after boring them.

remember, that crap gets EVERYWHERE!
wash, wash and then one more time for good measure.
don't think you can blow out the bolt holes with compressed air.. run a tap through them. you'll be amazed how much gets in there.
after running a tap through all the holes, wash it one more time.

that looks clean. Did you take the parts to a shop or did you buy the soda media and did it yourself?

The auto restoring crowd use it a lot as it's friendly to the environment and leaves little to no residue after blasting.

Soda blasting and walnut shell blasting are the two best way to clean Aluminum engine parts. These two media are totally safe for Aluminum engine parts. If by some chance you leave a little behind, they will not destroy the engine. We use these at work exclusively for this purpose. Some times, (more so than not we mix the two to get the best results.

I just found out about "PitStopPerformance" in Florida. They clean engine cases and paint them with high temp. silver. The finish is supposed to look better than new.
Anybody done that or seen it done?

They sell rebuilt engines on ebay every now and then. They look great with the silver paint.
