Cam Chain Tensioner Help-better bolt was created by kz1000g megasquirting
Just finished chroming this. The bolt in the photo was what what was used to lock the shaft in place. Anyone have any ideas for something better looking than than that long hex head?

that looks like a hardware store bolt and nut and it looks like the threads are different than the bolt that kawasaki used ...did some one before you force/thread tap that to work...??looks way different than what is on all the ones ive worked on...my 2 cents

When i replace bolts i use hex bolts i get off Yamahas i part out. You might be able to find a metric stainless bolt at the hardware store. Metric bolts are getting easier to find here in the sticks. Roy

if that is the case and it threads in nice and releases the tensioner as it should ,then somone may have "rigged it "...then you CAN replace it... in the stainless bolt section of any hardware store and get a shorter /nicer one/use the nut as a check sizing controlo piece...dont go so short that you have less than an inch prob sticking out

somebody has replaced the stock bolt with a gr.5 standard bolt so hopefully the threads aren't screwed up in the tensioner body it should be a 6mm by 1mm thread pitch bolt
