So I am putting my engine back together and in the manual it doesn't show torque specs for certain things like the clutch cover, ignition cover and stator cover, etc. Is it safe to say you don't have to torque them to a certain tightness?

easygood/ hand tight/ and a re-check after riding is fine...you get em too tight and they get even tighter over time...then you can have a hard time getting em back out without an inpact wrench later...my 2 cents

It does matter, especially to keep from stripping out the aluminum cases by those of us who might be heavy handed. The Kawasaki manual shows specific torque specs for the most critical items but uses a more general table for other items based on the diameter of the bolt or screw and whether it is coarse or fine threads. Most of the ones on mine came from the factory torqued to about 1000 ft-lbs. Had to use an impact driver on them, some of the screw crosses actually were twisted in the head after the3y camer loose.
