Valve cover gasket replacement was created by fredgarvin42
I'm sure one of you knows the proper method to do this and since I'm unclear, hopefully the gods will know.

I'm going to replace my valve cover gasket and cam ends today I am unsure of what to use for sealant, if any. On cars I would typically install valve cover gaskets dry or with a light coating of gaskacinch (spelling?) but this is not a car so I figured I'd run this up the flagpole.

Also, any do's and dont's on the cam end pieces? Should I use red, blue, or no thread locker upon reassembly?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Peace

you dont need locktight on the cover bolts and a "thin" bead of liquid gasket on the end plugs can be used

I've read/heard if the valve cover gasket is sprayed with a non stick cooking spray(like Pam) it will be able to be reused many times.

According to my FSM, the rubber plugs require sealant. Optional on the gasket, I use it across the tops of the plugs as they like to leak at the corners.

Thanks!!!

OK. Swapped the gasket and seals with a little goo on the seals. I'm sure it will hold but now it has an exhaust leak on both sides of the valve cover...joy. Are the Exhaust recirculation devices interchangeable? I didn't note which side each one came from when I reinstalled them.
