inch pounds to foot pounds was created by wagonmaster69
I only have a foot pound torque wrench and I am torquing the head bolts on my 82 KZ1100 Spectre.
And some of the bolts are inch pounds how do I convert is it as easy as dividing the inch pounds by 12?
I need to know.

Wagon.... Stop. put away your' Ft/lb torque wrench. at it's lightest setting all it can do is cost you money. a 6mm 1.0 thread bolt going into aluminum pulls threads @ 120 inch pounds. roughly the 1st graduation of your wrench, if unable to proqure a inch/lb wrench, go by feel. after cam tower bolts seat, the feel w/an 8" wrench is roughly what yoou would expect a walnut to crack at. balance is the key. a loose cam retainer is well loose.too tight strips threads, and possibly restricts oil bearing. it' your' call. luck G

do yourself a favor and get a 1/4" or 3/8" drive inch/lbs torque wrench, WAY cheaper than a stripped thread or broken bolt. A beam type is accurate and can be had for like 20 - 30 bucks.

I use my ft/lb wrench as a breaker bar when working on my bike. Get the inch/lb wrench. The ft/lb wrench works good on cars not bikes

Heed the advice. Harbor Freight has a decent clicker torque wrench which has a 200 inch-pound maximum scale that is good for camshafts, oil pan, cam cover, etc. I think it only costs about $20, I have been using one a long time.

If those are like mine, they torque out to about 360 inch-pound ballpark (around 30 ft-lbs).

This one will work pretty well for that:

Meanwhile, gane eagerly awaits further info from bountyhunter about HF's genuine Walnut Cracker torque-wrench valve adjuster.
