I'M A BIG STUPID NOB-HEAD !!!!
I just started it up 3 cylinders firing.
bang on #4 plug cap with the palm of my hand
and it suddenly starts to get warm !! then warmer and warmer !!!
So i guess the plug cap wasn't sitting on the plug properly
sorry for wasting your time
( i should check stuff out more, rather than running straight to this forum)
I am learning from it though !!
thanks

T, probly not, but would be a quick check for tight/carbon opened valve without going inside to check clearances.
how would i do this

guess the plug cap wasn't sitting on the plug properly -- Not necessarily. Depending on the application at hand, might be a weakness in the plug wire > cap connection.
Some caps have a metal point inside that "threads" into the center core of the plug wire. Sometimes this connection get mangled. May be able to snip off a bit of plug wire to afford a better grip/connection when re-attaching the cap to the wire end.
Combustion within cylinder as evidenced by hot exhaust header does not assure either compression or valve clearances being up to specs.
And spark plug that wouldn't fire may simply be already fouled beyond recovery. Would test spark quality with a brand new NGKB8ES spark plug, and install four brand new NGKB8ES spark plugs after resolving any compression and spark quality issues, all before resuming further attention to carbs.
Am thinking the hotter B7ES plug was perhaps being used as a stop-gap measure to help maintain combustion in a weak cylinder already suffering from a deficiency in spark quality, compression, or fuel mixture, or some combination thereof.
Good Luck!
