What KruZer is saying is the ram effect won't have much effect on a KZ because the aerodynamics spoil the airflow around where the carbs would sit if the heads are reversed. Not that ram air doesn't do anything. To get the full effect I'd have to move the carbs off the heads.

Oops. My bad: The one I saw was an 81 and the cam was what was solid and the guy still cut, rotated and rewelded. He made a degreeing plate out of an old CD.

Ram air on modern sportbikes works because it goes into an airbox. If the carbs were in front, you would have to have an airbox up front to make it work. A lot of work was done with this in a wind tunnel.

As for the fuelers, Elmer told me himself there was no advantage other than maintenance. When they first did it, they were using positive displacement blowers. Only so much air moves from one side of the blower to the other side with each revolution, regardless of how much you try to ran thru it.

Like I said before. I don't care about the ram effect or ease of maintenance. I just think it's the tits.

There are many inherent advantages to the design. I was only pointing out the main reason Yamaha went with this design.
