kz900 headers on a 1000j model???

i have a stupid ?
i've an extra v/hines header new...with a z-1 project...

i put it loose on my 1000j and it clears the frame braceing under the ex ports..it has a diff foot peg mount...no big there..i can hang it from the shocks top mount with alum flatstock ok...
????anyone see a reason a 1000j motor and z-1 /kz pipes wont work...i'm getting all new split collers and manifolds from z-1 enterprises in the mail any day...rob at z-1 is cool as hell...but have not bolted yet as a result...seems to mount great/exhuast ports seem same...clears under frame/motor nice...i searched threads to no avail...thanks craig

I don't see any problem other than what you mentioned about mounting. My opinion is that other than the bore and stroke size a lot of parts are pretty interchangeable between engines/years.

the split collars might be differant but cylinder spacing is same,i ran a supertrapp stainless steel gpz header on my 1170 way back when with no issues.

the vance and hines head pipes will fit all the big fours i have sportsman pipe that i have used on an 81 j as well on my 74 900 and my pco pipe on my drag is mounted on a gpz head but it also fits on kz heads as well the part number is the same for all versions of the kz motor.
