You need to hone it wet. That would make a mess in the bench.

was gonna hang it on the return over the side of the bench and let it drip onto old towels and stuff...APE Jay wrote:

nah, just wipe the seat of the brake stool before being seated, and use the rest as bench preservative  .not to mention the wall behind the bench from using an air powered coolant sprayer.fine mist of "preservative" on everything hanging behind the bench.oil can't hurt anything in my shop.some of my greasy fingerprinted manuals may beg to differ with that statement tho:huh: .
back to the topic,i use an old 1/2 drive electric drill that the variable trigger is burned out on.i have a light switch rotary dimmer wired into a box with an e-socket that plugs into one of my other e-sockets.anything i plug into the one with the rotary switch i can control the speed(variable speed)with the rotary knob.i have sunnen expandable hone's that i use(flex hones are fine for glaze breaking).you don't want to hone with a drill motor wide open, you can't get a nice crosshatch.it is very hard to give a drill enough "throttle" while trying to keep up a consistent crosshatch.so with the rotary knob you hold the drill wide open and maintain your desired speed with the knob, while keeping a good grip to stroke with.walla b-u-tiful crosshatch.hth

man i'm glad you mentioned that about the back wall splatter....my girls dads garrage is where i have half for my bikes shop...in the other half is a carrera 4s...and i bet i will have him go for a drive or wheel(thank god i built it on rollers) the bench outside...he would kill me... i think the thing costs about 95000..it is some super trick version.....LOL...he loves that i'm working on motors and stuff..instead of pool toys and garrbage filling the garrage...but he did state in our agreement NO SPRAY PAINTING INSIDE.. EVER.......hahaahahahaahahah...... igotta post some pics of how close this thing is to where i'm wrenching.....i keep a firm grip on my wrenchs...don't want em to go flying...hahahahaahaahaaha...p.s... i have a really good 1/2 drill that has a set screw on the triggerB)
