750 motor into a 650

do i put the whole motor in or just swap the top ends over?
the new motor has no carbs with it, so what do i need to look for?
was going to strip the 750 down anyway and give it a freeshen up with poss a flowed head at the same time.
any more tweeks worth doing while its all aprt?

Unless you have a solid state replacement reg/rec, I would use the 750 reg/rec and do the minor rewiring.
The 750 has electronic ignition also, so you need to find a stock 750 igniter (or make one). Or you could take a step backwards and use a Dyna S.
Or convert the 750 to the 650 points system (not on a bet!)

If you replace the 750 stator with the 77 650 stator, I'm pretty sure you will have to swap the 650 stator cover onto the 750 also.
Correct, the 750 stator cover does not have the provision for the field coil.
