I've noticed that every single aftermarket baffle and custom one is made with a straight pipe. I don't think original Kerkers were like this. The one I had in my bike had a tiny little pipe coming out of it - about a half inch diameter, and surrounding that was a tube with fine holes in it.
Would one of these custom straight-through baffles not permit a lot more air through? Again, I'm definitely NOT after performance. I'm chasing after mileage.
But if I hear nothing else, I'll probably use some aluminum drops from the nearby metal place and weld up a baffle just like I see here.
I noticed on the
CRC2 website
at the top they have a pipe that works like a car muffler - where the reflection of an exhaust burst bounces off the next one. Is this more like what Kerkers originally came with?
