I am working on a 82 KZ1300 restoration project. I am replacing the stator, with the cover removed there is a plug directly under the stator. This plug fell out when the cover came off and I am not sure which way it goes back in. The manual does not have a clear pic of this plug. I don't want to put it back in the wrong way. It is not threaded at all. Hopefully someone can tell me what this plug is, I will try to get a picture tonight.

If the plug is anything like what's on the KZ's and GPZ's, the wires from the alternator go through it preventing the oil leaking out. www.z1enterprises.com sells a grommet for these bikes that might be the same thing.

I notice parts diagrams for your model are still available at kawasaki.com
Click on Owner info etc.

Might help, might show you the way, until an expert .... or even an owner :) comes along.
