I got a set of standard J cams for my LTD and this is prob a silly ? but do I have to change the cam bearings.
They are $111 at Z1 a little more than I thought.

I dont think I have ever replaced a set of cam bearings on a bike,,,

77 kz650, owned for over 25 years
77 ltd1000, current rider
76 kz900, just waiting

Tom, Here's one you dont' hear often, I don't know... On a whim I went to my KZ1000 micro-fiche, and it shows the bearings, and no size options. you might cross reference bearing PN's from your' 900 and the MK11, if they're the same,and cam journals mike out the same, youre' probly safe. the only way to know for sure, would be plasi-guage, , but that would mean removing valves.G

when i went through my top end, mine where semi toasted in the middle of the bearing surface...bike had 30k on it and im not sure the maintenance history...i kind of looked at it from a car point of view.. if one section was clearly a different look from the rest of the bearing, why risk it?..
if the metal looks uniform all the way across the bearing surface, you should be set...mine werent...so i replaced them....keith
