Quick advance cam question was created by dman3998
I need to remove the advance cam assembly but the bolt seems very tight in either direction. before I break it off, is it by chance a left hand thread?

Thanks

It's the standard bolt type (turn to the right to tighten, left to loosen) Soak the bolt with PB blaster or similar penetrating oil followed by getting a block of wood and smacking the bolt with a hammer to break it loose.

Once you get it off use some silver anti-seize to make it easier to remove next time

You want to apply the torque to the smaller bolt, while you hold the other one with a wrench...13mm,and 17mm,if I'm not mistaken. It's been a while.
And yes,it probably IS corroded down in the threads.

And there are rubber parts on the advance mechanism,so don't depend on any serious heat to break it loose.

Kroil is a super penetrant that will get under rust. The larger nut on mine is 17mm. I think you can put a 17mm box end on the larger nut and then put a socket on the little one.
