big bore KZ900A4 to 1105 was created by Ktm181
Hi Guys, new to your forum, excellent site and SUPERB information. I am rebuilding my KZ and spending heaps with Z1Enterprises/Jeff Saunders. My question is i want to fit a wiseco 1105 kit to my KZ 900, other than the kit which will includes sleeves, EXACTLY what mods do i need to do to fit it? Machine cases? How hard is this? etc.

Thanks heaps and KZs rock!

A.E.

You will need to remove the studs and send the top case along with your block to have it bored for the new sleeves.

I don't usually recommend 1105 for a couple of reasons. First, if using std KZ1000 sleeves, it makes them too thin. If Wiseco pits the 629 sleeve in that kit, that is the same as a 1200, so might as well do a 1200 for the same money.

In any event, get the whole thing from someone who does the machine work too. I can think of a good one:P :P kzzone.com/

The 1105 has always been that motor everone loves or hates. True the sleeves get thin but it depends where and how you ride. If your in a cooler climate, no worries. I live in an extremely hot climate. I ride it but give way to excessive heat. Just fatten her up a bit. A very strong pulling motor for sure.

if youre using the 1000 sleeves just build a 1075 and make the same if not more power ,if youre using the big sleeves go with my favorite the tried and true 1197!B)

well, thanks for all the replies Gentlemen, I am in Australia so will perhaps to find someone local. I like my bikes to be totally usable so perhaps a 1075 will be the way to go,still I need to have sleeves installed OR find a kz1000 cylinder/jugs which still means having top case machined, perhaps JAY CAN ADVISE whether a lot of material has to be machined from the cases etc? I should I just use the Wiseco 1045 piston kit?

Thanks again,
A.E.

the 1045 it is going to need a set of 1000 sleeves anyway, its going to cost same money unless you already have the pistons might as well do 1075.drop a kz1000 cylinder on there with the studs still installed to align everything then scribe around the base of sleeves this is how much needs to be removed from top case for clearance.B)
