You will need the parts in the pic below (650 kickstart assy disassembled), the stopper plate shown in the box in the bottom pic, the kickstart lever and a 650 clutch cover.
You will also have to split the cases, there's no way to get the kick start shaft in or out with the cases assembled.

The 750 case doesn't have the hole.
Are you really, really, really, sure about that??
I assume we are talking about the hole in the case where the shaft fits, as in the above pic?
For your viewing pleasure, I present a KZ750 four right side lower case
It looks like everything is there
What to you think OnkelB? Look like all the provisions for kick start are there?
I don't have a 650 to compare, everything here is either a 750 twin or a 750 four.

ok, so essentially if the gearing and all the other variables mentioned are right, it should be possible? cool. definitely have to be a backburner project for the next time she's stripped right down though by the sounds of things, she's coming together far too nicely to want to pull apart again so soon!
thanks again.

Sure looks like it, at least the hole for the kickstart shaft is there as well as the bolt holes for the shaft bushing bracket.
Can't see for sure if the mounting holes for the stopper plate are there though - that part is essential as the stopper plate is what causes the kickstart ratchet to disengage.
However, since all the rest is there I'm pretty sure the stopper plate mounts are too, it would seem that they used the same mould for the 650 and 750-4 cases.

Good job searching for info...only please dig deeper since there are quite a few threads on this subject detailing out how to make the mod. The forum search function isn't the best but if you use google and search "kick start on KZ750" it will turn up lots of threads here and elsewhere.
Bottom line is that it is possible as long as your bikes engine cases have the hole for the mechanism. Assuming it does then it's a fairly simple matter of splitting the cases and adding the appropriate parts and installing a clutch cover with the hole for the shaft.
