SoCal KZ Engine Builder was created by supercharged
Anyone have any suggestions for a South California engine builder with KZ experience? Looking for a complete tear down, bore, head and carbs.

I approached a shop that is very competent with sportbikes and their response was "KZ... that is air cooled, we don't work on those."

Funny, I would think these "air cooled" bikes are actually easier to work on.

Maybe what he meant was, those old bikes... I'll fix one thing and 2 more will break while I'm doing it:unsure:

That sounds like the typical response from most shops. You would have better luck finding an old drag racer.

Other than Pete @ the Ventura shop, I have little or no confidence in them. Pete is one hell of a rider/racer - had on the fastest laps at Willow Springs for a while - also a good tuner, but no time for my project.

Hence me coming to the most knowledgeable group for KZ ;)

Sent my head and cylinders to APE a few years ago, and they rebuilt the head, made exhaust guides, and machined my cylinders for their Wiseco 615cc Kit. Don't know why anyone wouldn't recommend them? I don't know any of them personally, but they'd get my business.

I hate to remind folks but APE is a site advertiser and supports this website. That would cause me to take a very serious look at using them. They care about older bikes and KZs in particular. When we were talking about the state of the bike parts industry, it looks like APE is more committed to keeping these old bikes alive than most any other manufacturer. KZZONE.com is their website I think.

Thanks for the kind words folks. However we are not engine builders like the gentleman ask for. We do all of the machine work like Corey mentioned, but we do not assemble the motors. Our customers do that part.
