KZ1100 oil pump was created by geokz
Hey out there in KZ land. Haven't had my '82 KZ1100 A2 long enough to know? Is there a different model oil pump that will give higher out put than standard. What about mods to the stocker?

These engines have a low oil pressure due to having a pressed together roller bearing crankshaft.

From my 1982 GPZ1100 B2 factory workshop manual"
at 30000 RPM and 140 F oil pressure is between 2.8 PSI and 3 PSI"

As far as I know, there are no aftermarket pumps to increase flow volume.

I have partaken of a number of threads where some people claim you can magically improve the engine's oil delivery by changing one of the pump's drive gears.....

These threads are usually pointless and end up with some especially cruel person (usually me) asking the million dollar question:

If you can magically make the oil flow better by changing the gear ratio... why wouldn't kawasaki just change the gears?

There are high-volume aftermarket pumps for some car engines, I know because I have used them before. Never seen such things for bikes.

When I rebuilt my KZ 750, it had 77K miles on it so I figured the pump had to be worn. I went ahead and ordered the gears. One of the old pros told me KZ pumps don't wear unless the engine is horribly abused. Sure enough, when I got the pump out and measured the clearance it showed NO WEAR. In fact, the old parts showed less clearnce than the new gears I had just bought.....

Oh, well...

In addition to the above, when you increase the pressure/volume, your goning to need to increase the pan size, hence you pump more oil to the top less in the bottom,, not a good thing

i have never seen a problem with the stock pump the great thing about these motors is that they don't need a lot of oil pressure because of the rollar bearing bottom end the only requirement that they have is good quailty and clean oil other than that they can pretty much take whatever you can throw at them.
