1015 block to 900 cases was created by BARNEYHYPHEN
I'm going to be transplanting a 1015 block onto 1976 900 cases. I'm told I will likely have to have the cases machined to accept the 1015 block.

Could someone please tell me what clearance I need to achive between the sleeves and the cases. Thanks.

drop the 1000 cylinder down over the studs and scribe around bottem of sleeves ,pull cylinder back off this is howmuch you need to remove put a little bit of a bevel on the edge of the cases to make it easier to install and avoid stress risers.goodluck, happy wrenching!

I have installed a 1015 block on a 903 case several times in the past year and have had to clean up the cases with a die grinder each time. It can be done it about 5-10 minutes so not much material needs to be removed. You will have clean up the material towards the front of the case where the liners will be hitting just a bit. Test fit the block and remove some material and then test fit again until the block slides easily onto the two engine dowels. Once you are done, I suggest you split the cases and clean the mess out good before final assembly so it is best to do this step BEFORE fitting that new cam chain.

WG, you stated "I have installed a 1015 block on a 903 case several times in the past year and have had to clean up the cases with a die grinder each time." Does this apply to all years of 1015 blocks or just later years? Anyone else with info, please feel free to chime in here!!!!!!

The 77/78 cases are SLIGHTLY different than the 79/80 cases in that there are slots around the bases of the liners where you install those thin orings. The liners from both the early and later 1015cc blocks will sometimes hit the front of the upper case. I do know that some folks have been able to drop 1015cc blocks on with no clearancing but I have not been able to do it. I have installed four 1015cc blocks on 903cc bottom ends in the past year and all have had to be ground a bit; some a bit more than others. It is best to split the cases when doing the grinding as it makes a darn mess inside the cases. You probably should swap out cam chains anyway at this time.

OK WG, I got that part alright, but have you had any experience installing a 1015 to a 73-75 Z1 case? I have a 75 and would like to do that if it's not too difficult. Thanks....Teddycp
