ILL try to make this short.
If you wont to bracket race, you can run anything you like. Just go for it.

When I started bracket racing I took a stock 900 with a few important things.
Slick, Bars, Rev limiter. (limiter very important) and a air shifter.
I had a GREAT time. Got lots track time and learned so much, it was hard
so soak it all up. Met a bunch of great people who for the most part will help out
in any way they can. (unless you are lined up with them)
My point is. It's not about how much money you spend on your bike or how fast
you are going. It about DOING IT. Just go for it. Have a good time.
Learn to be consistent. It makes no deference how fast you go.

thats all i do is bracket race, so basically speed and times are just for bragging rights. i will hopefully get the bike dialed in consistantly and run it til i can afford my 1075 kit.

i was a broke starving motorcycle mechanic wondering if i was going to be working next week so i built a 1015 street compression motor an old rc pipe, stock rear wheel, small cams used yosh street cams, a drl-200 high end rev limiter, i would launch the bike of the rev limiter [i had it set for 11000 r.p.m it got 1.40 60's ran 10.70's in calgary at 3720ft.elevation] i ran it that way for 10 years all i ever did was change valve springs once a year. i foot shifted it and never did get an airshifter till last year still am getting used to it. i still have that bike. the small motor set-up worked great for me my best time with that combo came in mission b.c it went 10.26 128 mph. every year i would add something to make it better but never anything to excotic. it was a great machine for burnouts thou. i have had so much fun and met some really cool people that i call freinds today because of racing that bike i'll never get rid of it. by the way keep every thing simple and run this gearing your motor will pull it easy and it will never bog. 14- 41 run 630 chain it wont stretch or break i used ek630ms in the catalog they call it top-fuel chain damn near unbreakable.

get it undercut it will if your gonna air shift it actually just get it done anyway. i always used stockers but i could pull a motor split it apart and back together in about 4 hours if i was in a rush and i had lots of spare parts so if i broke something it was no big deal.

Man, sounds interesting. What kind of chassis/tires/wheelbase where you running to launch it like that?

Slicks and bars?

It sounds like fun.

yes just 5.5" goodyear slick and bars i used 8.5 lbs of air and launched it off the rev limiter. stock frame and wheels the struts were 10.5 long in the stock position. 900 welded crank and charging system removed.
