Ive got a little extra money and am interested in buying cams for my bike. 82 KZ1000 LTD Vance & hines megaphone, k&n pod filters, dyna coils, and Wired George has my carbs for rebuild and jet now. Anybody have a sugestion on what cams would work best? I ride the KZ on the street but I would like to take it to the strip this summer.

Andrews 1x will give you a little more power and are good for a stock motor. The 2x cams would really help out if you went up to a 1075 kit with a header and pods.

.395 web cams good sreet power and good for a small motored dragbike. are you raising compression as well because that would help even more.

How about a set of 83-84 GPZ cams? Do they drop in in that motor?

1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110

I'm doin what I can when I can put some money together.
I've got to put a new caim chain this winter and have the money for that and the cams so no on raising the compression unless I come on a good deal on pistons.

no tach drive for sure

Didn't think about that. Is this a j motor? I thought only the Spector style motor had the tach drive. Rest of the j motors had electronic tach didn't they?

i thought the early ones like 81-82 all had tach drive on the 1000s anyway,both of the j-heads have have tach drive on them anyway

KZ1000M (CSR) has a mechanical tach, KZ1000K (LTD) and KZ1000J (Standard) both have electronic tachs.
