Hows it going...this is my first post here and it's regarding the timing marks on the camshaft sprockets and the mark by the points. I tried getting the marks lined up down on the points area and something wasn't right on the cam sprockets.....so I lined up the arrow on the exhaust cam sprocket even with the head deck and counted back to the 28th pin. The "T" in the points area is not even close to where it's supposed to be.
Also, when the T is in line, it's supposed to be directly under the timing mark correct? And not the small mark to the right of the T??
Another questions (sorry), but when turning the crank on the stator side of the motor, is there supposed to be any movement before the crank/cams start to rotate?
Sorry if these questions have been answered before, never messed around with a kz before. I'm sure I won't have any problems building this motor, just wanna clear up some questions, and I'm sure there will be more in the future. Yeah I have a manual. Just wanna be safe. thanks guys, Chase.

I would start by making sure the cam chain isn't balled up in the front of the engine down under the sprocket on the crank. You can do this by shaking the chain. Make sure you START with the timing mark under the derby cover aligned to the T lined up with the mark on the case. You mentioned turning the crank on the stator side? No sir... turn the crank using the 17mm nut on the points side with the spark plugs removed. Anyway, the T mark is lined up and you shake out the cam chain... then put the intake cam in place with the > mark lined to the gasket mating surface at the front of the engine. Then put the exhaust cam in place where the 28T mark is lined up with the 28th pin by counting the pin adjacent to the > mark as ZERO.

And make SURE that the bike is sitting level, and not on the kick-stand!
The cam chain won't grab the crank, properly,if the bike is on a lean.;)

I know its late to reply, but I did sort it all out as far as the timing marks. I just wanted to be sure about it before I tore into the motor. thanks again for the reassurance, the fish.
