80 KZ750LTD Engine Same as 1983 KZ750LTD? was created by peachc
Hey Guys,
Got a quick question for you. I just got a part bike which engine only has 8k on it, compared to my original with 30k. Is it possible to switch out the two engines with using the same wiring harness from the KZ750LTD '80? Is there any differences which would make the swap hard? Any information would be great, It will make the difference between putting the old engine back into the frame tomorrow or spending the time in putting the new one I picked up today:blush:

You can go to
www.buykawasaki.com
and click on "Order Service and Owners Manuals for your Kawasaki" then click on the top "continue" button, then select the year and cc size for the bike you want to check (in this case select 1983 and 750) then click on the model (LTD four) then click on "View Parts diagrams" and compare the ignition and reg/rec and see if they are the same.
The reason you can select 83 in this case, is because 80-83 are all listed on the same parts diagrams.
This really comes in handy, for ordering parts as well as seeing what fits, you can go through all the models and compare part numbers.
I just did all this while I was typing this post, and 80-83 use the same reg/rec and ignition, so it ought to be plug and play

Awesome, Thanks Steell. I also looked and it does seem to be interchangable, will enjoy an engine with 8k much more than a 30k engine I am imagining, ha.
