it looks easy enough, but i think i remember hearing some tales that it doesnt drop easy...anyone have any experiences they want to share..also, i took a quick look around and i dont see anyone carrying oil pumps....maybe i just didnt look hard enough.....thanks .... keith

I'm pretty sure my oil pan came from kawi with 3-bond on it and it was a bugger to get off. I think you can use a pocketknife blade worked into the corners to try to get some separation and the pry it apart. Scraping the gasket remnants off is 3 hours of your life you'll never get back.

On the KZ's, the oil pumps don't usually wear out. You can order the new pump drive impellers from Kawasaki, that's what I did.

don't forget to get the two oil pump seals if you remove the pump.
you will never get it to seal with the old ones.

someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

Yep, on mine it was a wierd O ring with a cone shaped side to it.

thanks, i was just thinking since i had it semi apart....i will probably just leave well enough alone.
lite always went out in a timely fashion and never came on when it should nt..........

I changed my oil pan last Winter.
I layed the bike on her side to replace the Oil Pan. I used a couple of car tires to lay her over gently. The battery is out the of bike, oil as well, Tank and side cover off:



A few taps with a rubber mallet helped loosen her up.
Made cleaning off the old gasket much easier.

i hope you changed the rear tire . that is excactly how i pull the pan off my drag bike when im checking shift forks easy that way isn't it .
